Whose Data Is It Anyway?

Improv comedy meets formative assessment in a screenless-first workshop for schools where check-ins are missing or inconsistent.

3.5 hours10–60 teachers · designed around 25One-campus license
The outcome

What teachers leave with.

This is a build-and-practice session. Teachers work on their own classroom material and leave with artifacts they can use, not a binder of ideas to revisit someday.

  • Four improv assessment moves teachers can name and recognize.
  • Hands-on practice with rapid checks, responsive exit tickets, callbacks, and participation protocols.
  • A one-page team playbook built from two or three selected strategies.
  • One Monday Move with a date and accountability partner.
Fit check

Know before you buy.

A good turnkey kit should help you say no as clearly as it helps you say yes.

Best for

  • Grades 6–12 faculties that need practical checks for understanding.
  • Facilitators who want a lively room without needing comedy experience.
  • Schools that need the core workshop to work without internet, video, or speakers.

Not the right fit if…

  • You want a lecture-only formative-assessment overview.
  • You cannot provide four practice areas or adapt the stations for a smaller room.
  • You expect optional broadcast clips to carry the lesson; the default route is screenless.
The workshop day

An agenda with the doing protected.

The workshop begins with the experience of being taught into the void, studies three comedy cases, and then puts teachers on their feet to practice four assessment moves.

  1. The Problem with PD
Bad PD Bingo, the void, and the improv connection.
  2. Comedy Analysis Lab
Two read-aloud cases plus one live Word-at-a-Time Story round.
  3. Break
  4. Improv Lab
Four nine-minute stations with real transition time.
  5. Design Studio
Teams build and pitch a one-page playbook.
  6. The Monday Move
Commitment, accountability partner, Q&A, and survey.
What is included

Everything the facilitator and teachers need.

Every package is built from version-controlled source and checked for missing files, placeholder text, print overflow, and mismatched front/back card layouts before the ZIP is created.

Facilitator system

Scripted guide in print PDF, editable Markdown, and reflowable accessible HTML.

41-slide deck

Editable PowerPoint with notes on every slide, plus accessible slide text and notes.

Ten handouts

Self-assessment, comedy protocol, playbook, commitment card, station cards, facilitator sheet, Bingo, screenless analysis pack, and survey.

Four station cards

Full-page front/back cards with participant directions and facilitator-quality reference material.

Screenless default

Two read-aloud comedy cases and one live improv round; official clips are optional, never required.

30-day follow-through

One cohort of up to 25 teachers, starting when the cohort launches.

Prep, honestly

No “open the deck five minutes before.”

The first run asks for real preparation. The rerun is faster because the facilitator already knows the material and can reuse the durable pieces.

First run
3–4 hours

Print and assemble seat packets, rehearse the screenless comedy-analysis lab, learn the station debriefs, and stage four station areas. Optional clips add about 20–30 minutes.

Rerun
90–120 minutes

Recheck the room, roster, print counts, and the guide's timing notes. A new site may add coordination time.

Room and technology: Tables of 4–6, a projector, and four station areas. No internet, video, or speakers are required. Optional clips may be used only at the school's discretion from official sources.

“Yes, And…” Exit Tickets

Each teacher writes an exit-ticket question they actually use. The next person adds a follow-up that builds on a likely student response. A third person writes how the teacher will use both responses to adjust tomorrow's lesson.

The thread: schedule the teacher's response into the design—an opener, a warm-up, or a conference list. A ticket you do not act on is just a goodbye wave with data on it.
The workshop is day one

Thirty days of follow-through are included.

The access clock starts when your cohort launches, not when you buy. One cohort of up to 25 teachers gets daily coaching tied to the workshop goal. The kit purchase itself is one-time and does not auto-renew.

Teachers choose a specific classroom move. The workshop ends with a real plan, date, and accountability partner.
The coach follows up in the teaching week.Five-minute conversations help teachers think through what happened and decide their next attempt.
Day 30 creates a decision point.Your school can stop with the included cycle or choose continued platform access separately.

The 60-day run-it guarantee

Run this kit with your teachers within 60 days of purchase. If they do not find it valuable, email hello@pdthatworks.com for a full refund. No questions asked.

You are evaluating the actual workshop with your actual staff—not whether a preview looked polished.
